Harding for Dunshaughlin library event

Dunshaughlin Library will host 'An Evening with Michael Harding' next week. The novelist, playwright and journalist, and author of the memoir 'Staring at Lakes: A Memoir of Love, Melancholy and Magical Thinking', will be in Dunshaughlin on Thursday 14th March at 7.30pm. Harding was born in Cavan in 1953, and has published three novels: 'Priest' (1986), 'The Trouble with Sarah Gullion' (1988), and 'Bird in the Snow' (2008). He was a recipient of the Stewart Parker Theatre Bursary in 1990, and the Bank of Ireland/ RTE Award for Excellence in the Arts in the same year. He was Writer in Association with The National Theatre in 1993, and Writer in Residence at Trinity College, Dublin, in 1999. He won the Hennessey Literary Award for short stories in 1980 and became a member of Aosdana in 2000. Among the long list of plays written by Harding, is 'The Tinker's Curse', which was nominated for Best New Play at the Irish Times Irish Theatre Awards in 2007.
