Minor footballers win in Kells

Meath opened their Leinster MFL campaign with an impressive victory against Wexford at Grangegodden, Kells today. Meath won convincingly by 2-15 to 0-7 and were ahead by 1-7 to 0-3 at the interval. Despite the recent poor weather conditions the Gaeil Colmcille pitch was in excellent condition and a large crowd attended what was the first outing of the year for the Royal County. See video http://youtu.be/fPJtF7lj1Bc Meath went very close to a hat-trick of titles last year only to falter against Dublin on each occasion. Based on this performance today, with up to five of last year's panel still eligible, Meath manager Andy McEntee has plenty of talent at his disposal. Following the game against Wexford, the remainder of the panel, some 35 players were involved in an inter-panel challenge game at Dunganny. Next Saturday Meath will host Wicklow - probably at the same venue (not confirmed yet) - in the second round of the Leinster MFL. Missing from that game will be up six players who will be on duty with St Patrick's CS, Navan in the Leinster Colleges' SFC quarter-final against St Peter's (Wexford).
