Another Meade winner at Leopardstown

Castletown trainer Noel Meade maintained his winner-a-day at the Leopardstown Festival after Monksland won the grade two Christmas Hurdle today. Monksland stayed on from the last to beat the Willie Mullins pair, 11/8 favourite Zaidpour by two and a half lengths with So Young in third at 8/1. " I thought five out he was gone, but then I thought he was getting into it at two out. I left it to Paul. He waits on a horse as he has a theory if horses are going too fast. He gave him a super ride," remarked the trainer. Meade won the concluding bumper at Leopardstown yesterday when Nina Carberry partnered Mullaghanoe River to a narrow victory. Nina Carberry won the bumper again today with the Charlie Swan-trained Tangled Web. Flemenstar was edged into third place (half a length and a head) in his first effort over three miles in the Lexus Chase today. Ruby Walsh and Tidal Bay pounced late for vctory with First Lieutenant in second place.
