Treacy tuning up for Qatar!

Parkvilla player Ross Treacy will be jetting off to the sunshine in Qatar next month after he was selected for the Republic of Ireland u-15 international team today. Republic of Ireland u-15 international team manager Niall Harrison has announced his squad for the forthcoming matches against the Aspire Academy in Qatar and the Navan player has been included. This will be the first fixtures for the players, who were born in 1998, in the international structure. "We've worked with the players since bringing them together for the first time in the summer and then we had further trials and get-togethers in September," explained Harrison. "This is the first experience for them as an international team and I'm sure they are all excited about the opportunity and looking forward to representing their country," added the manager who is from Sligo and previously played for Sligo Rovers. Treacy's selection will be a big boost for the Navan club who have always tried to keep their under-age players moving up through the ranks. However, at the end of last season a number of promising young players were lured to Dublin clubs which was disappointing for the local officials. Treacy opted to stay with Parkvilla and his selection will demonstrate that it is not necessary to go to a Dublin club to make progress any more.
