Women's Refuge benefits from Nobbs premiere

The Navan film premiere of 'Albert Nobbs', starring Glenn Close with music composed by international music composer, Navan's Brian Byrne, took place on Thursday 8th March, at that Solstice Art Centre in Navan. The event was held in aid of Meath Women's Refuge.  There was a special presentation made by Mayor of Navan, Cllr Anton McCabe on behalf of Navan Town Council to Brian in recognition of his achievements. The Solstice Arts Centre was sold out and everyone was entertained by well-known RTÉ broadcaster, Marty Morrissey who was guest MC for the night. The music for the film was composed by Byrne who is now an internationally renowned music composer and who was recently nominated at the Golden Globe Awards for Best Original Song. He received the Irish Film and Television Award for his work on Albert Nobbs, and previously for his original score for the Irish sci-fi comedy 'Zonad', directed by John Carney. Byrne has worked with such international luminaries as Katy Perry, Bono, Barbra Streisand, Lisa Stansfield, Van Morrison, The Corrs, Sinead O'Connor, Alan Bergman, Ronan Tynan, Luis Miguel, Vince Gill, and Gladys Knight. His varied musical credits also include a score for a short film directed by Eric Stoltz and the theme music to the 'Late Late Show'. The successful fundraiser was organised by Paddy and Jean White on behalf of Meath Women's Refuge.
