Fiona McCann after her Slimmers World and 'Off the Rails' makeover.

Athboy mum drops six dress sizes and wins TV makeover

An Athboy mum was nominated for a television makeover after losing nearly seven stone with Slimming World. Fiona McCann (44) joined the Carrickmacross Slimming World group in February 2011 and has since lost 6st 10.5lbs and dropped six dress sizes. Her weight loss inspired her proud sister to nominate her for special treatment on RTE show 'Off The Rails', and Fiona was chosen and given a glamorous new look for her new slim figure last week. A business systems analyst who is married with a 16 year-old son, Fiona had struggled with her weight since her late teens and has tried 'every diet under the sun'. She suffered with serious knee pain and had to take lots of medication for heartburn and indigestion. With a trip-of-a-lifetime in the pipeline to go with thousands of scouts to the World Scout Jamboree in Sweden, Fiona decided she had to do something about her weight once and for all. She didn't want her size to hold her back and spoil the trip for her and local scouts, too. So, in February this year, she joined the Carrickmacross Slimming World group, run by Sinead Bennett, weighing in at 19st 4lbs. She started following Slimming World's food optimising eating plan and never felt hungry as she was able to enjoy unlimited amounts of fruit and veg, pasta, rice, potatoes, lean meat, poultry, fish, eggs and fat-free dairy. She found she could still enjoy all her favourite meals and, as no foods were banned, she could still have treats in moderation too so she never felt deprived. Since February, Fiona has dropped to 12st 7.5lbs and is just one stone away from her target weight. She's dropped from a size 24/26 to a 14. Fiona's health problems have cleared up and her confidence is sky high as she regularly receives compliments from people and loves catching sight of her reflection in windows now - she can't believe it's her! In fact, she looks so different that other people can't believe it either and, at a party recently, people failed to recognise her. She went to Sweden and had a blast as she could take part in all of the activities instead of sitting on the sidelines.
