Final slot secured in Davis Cup final by Kilmessan

Home side prevail in tough encounter

Kilmessan... 1-13

Kiltale... 1-10

Kilmessan took on neighbours Kiltale in this Brendan Davis Cup encounter and secured a deserved victory at Kilmessan on Tuesday evening.

It was Kiltale who hit the opening point of the game but Kilmessan gradually found their stride and it was the home side who led at the interval with Joey Keena firing the ball to the net to help them lead 1-7 to 0-6 at the interval.

There was no holding back by either side in their quest to impose their dominance and at times the contest got a bit heated as the tackles flew in with both sides having players sent off.

Kilmessan finished the game with 14 players while Kiltale were down to 12 by the time the full time whistle sounded.

In the closing stages the home side however managed to stay in front to secure the win with Luke Horan their topscorer with four points.

Noah Conroy, Eoin Harlin, Jack Cottrell, Darragh Horan and Sean Doyle were others to contribute scores to Kilmessan's tally.

This was a hard working team display by the winners.
