Kati crowned as Trim's Celtic Queen

Kati Clancy was crowned Trim's fourth annual Celtic Queen at a packed event held in the town's Bounty Bar on Friday night, as part of the St Patrick's Day Celtic Festival. Five young ladies took to the stage and put new local TD, Deputy Ray Butler, through his paces as they answered a series of questions on a variety of subjects. The event was packed with contestants' families and friends who came to cast their vote for their chosen queen - and at one stage it began to take on the appearance of a general election with all the canvassing that was taking place. Kati was nominated for the competition by Trim-based Irish Balloon Flights. She will attend a number of events over the week of the Celtic Festival in Trim, including the St Patrick's Day Parade and the Daft Raft Race. The now customary Daft Raft Race on the Boyne will commence at 1.30pm on St Patrick's Day. A kiddies' corner will be open all day in the town hall, while the St Patrick's Day parade itself will commence at 3pm through the main streets of the town, starting at the ring road and finishing at Castle Street, having passed through Patrick Street, Emmet Street and Market Street, where the reviewing stand will be located. At 8pm, Trim GAA Centre will stage a Scurlogstown Céilí Mór, featuring the Tara Céilí Band.
