Ice rink stays open for extra weekend

Navan On Ice is planning to stay open for an extra weekend to cater for demand. The ice rink at Navan Racecourse will now stay open to the public this Friday 14th, Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th January for an additional weekend of enjoyment due to the success of the venture over the past eight weeks. The rink had been due to close last Sunday, 9th January. Since late November, just over 15,000 members of the public have braved the cold and natural icy conditions to enjoy time at Navan On Ice. Promoters the Profile Music Group said: “While we always were aware this activity was going to be a huge success, we didn't realise how well it would have been accepted. We spoke with hundreds of people throughout the eight weeks who would love to see it back next year and who said how it was great to see a rink of this scale in Navan.†The biggest numbers of visitors were locals from Navan and Meath in general, but over the holidays a huge number of people also visited from surrounding counties such as Cavan, Westmeath, Louth and Dublin. Opening hours for this weekend are: Friday 14th January, 4.10pm-10.30pm; and Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th January, 12.10pm-10.30pm. A shuttle bus is still available and details are available on www.oreillycoaches.com. The bus will service Johnstown, Navan town and Blackcastle, on the hour every hour. The bus service number is (087) 274 6179. Tickets for Navan On Ice are available from www.navanonice.ie, the E2 Music store in Navan and from the box office at the ice rink.
