Meath hurling theme to RTE’s 'Winning Streak’

There was a Meath hurling theme on Saturday night’s 'Winning Streak’ lottery game show on RTE television with two of the participants on the show promoting the Kildalkey and Kilmessan hurling teams prior to Sunday’s senior county hurling final. Ballivor participant Vivienne Leavy sent her parish team, Kildalkey, best wishes in the final, taking place in Pairc Tailteann on Sunday. Not to be outdone, Marie Kane from Kilmessan, who was taking part in the 'Dream Maker’ segment of the programme, made sure that Kilmessan wasn’t left out and sent them best wishes in the final, which was won by Kildalkey. Vivienne, a teacher in St Mary’s Primary School in Trim, scooped €37,200, including a holiday to New York, while Marie from Ringlestown, won €10,000 on the 'Dream Maker’ segment, an outside broadcast from Donegal. Vivienne is from Shanco, Ballivor, and moved to live in Navan in recent weeks. Her 28 senior infants pupils in Trim were very excited that their teacher was on the show and were particularly thrilled to be filmed by the RTE cameras for a segment on the show earlier in the week. A daughter of Gerry and Breda Leavy, Vivienne has five brothers, one sister, four nieces and one nephew. Brother Edward was also interviewed on the show. With her winnings, she said she would like to treat herself to a nice holiday. She said has never been to Australia before and would love to go there some day and would also like to visit South Africa. Her ticket was purchased in Dempsey’s Maxol Service Station in Ballivor. The five players on last Saturday night’s Winning Streak gameshow, presented by Geri Maye and Marty Whelan, were from Meath, Wicklow, Louth, Dublin and Cork and won prizes to the value of €210,500. Each week, an additional lucky player gets to spin the Dream Maker Wheel for the chance to win between €10,000 and €50,000. This year that game takes place around the country at National Lottery supported project venues. Marie Kane, who won €10,000 in this, also appeared on the 'Winning Streak’ game show 10 years ago when she won £11,000 and a Ford Fiesta car. Next week’s outside broadcast is to be aired from Navan, and Carol Hussey from Mulhussey, Kilcook, will be one of the participants in the game show at the RTE studios on Saturday night.
