Team Ireland set for the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games

Global animal feed and nutrition leader Alltech, congratulates the riders selected by Horse Sport Ireland to participate at the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games™ in Lexington, Kentucky this September. More than 60 National Federations will be entering teams to appear at the event in less than 50 days time and Ireland will field competitors in the reining, dressage, showjumping, para-equestrian and eventing world championships.  Cian O'Connor had his place on the team confirmed at the announcement. "I am absolutely thrilled to be named as part of the Irish showjumping team to compete at the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games," commented O'Connor. "It will be the biggest test to date for my new mare K Club Lady, but I'm confident that we can deliver the goods. "Our team is strong and if we can reproduce the form from Aachen in July, then I believe we can become World Champions in Kentucky," he added. Managing Director of Alltech Ireland, John Thornton commented: "The teams selected to represent Ireland at the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games will showcase Ireland's rich equestrian heritage and talent before a global audience. "Everyone at Alltech Ireland wishes them the very best in their endeavours and looks forward to supporting the Irish team in Kentucky." The Irish team comprises: showjumping - Denis Lynch, Cian O' Connor, Billy Twomey, two more combinations from riders who have already been named on superleague squads during 2010 will be announced at a later date; dressage - Judy Reynolds; para-equestrian - James O' Dwyer, Eilish Byrne; reining - Ollie Galligan; eventing - six combinations have been selected from which five riders will travel - Mark Kyle, Elizabeth Power, Michael Ryan, Patricia Ryan, Camilla Spiers, Sam Watson.
