Meath's first business 'ambassador' appointed as new network launched

The director of a top US company has become the first 'Ambassador for Meath' at the launch of the 'sign up call' for a new 'Meath Around the World' business link to promote Meath, its citizens and its business opportunities. Dr Mark Lyons, director of US company, Alltech, with its European headquarters in Dunboyne, will promote Meath in his role as the county's first ambassador. "I am honoured to become the first ambassador for this great county. I believe that if we all work together to promote Meath and its citizens among the international business community, we will attract new companies and industries here," he said. "The number of people with connections to, links to and relatives in Meath is enormous. It is great to be one of the first people to be involved with the new website and, when it goes live in a few weeks time, it will give these people access to the latest news at home and a voice to express their views and share their business experiences with other Meath people," he said. Calling all those with Meath connections to sign up to the 'Meath Around the World.com' website, Councillor William Carey, outgoing chairman of Meath County Council, said the website would be a network dedicated to bringing together everyone with an interest in doing business in Meath. "The site can be used to discuss business opportunities and new initiatives. It is a facility to meet, online, with potential business partners, investors, customers and suppliers. Members can initiate and contribute to discussions, alert other members to upcoming events and create groups around specific subjects of interest.  "Anybody with Meath connections is invited to sign up now and to share their views as to how they see it being effective for them. If you are from Meath and working abroad, an international specialist working in one of the international companies in the county or someone looking to invest in the business opportunities available, then I urge you to sign up now. All are welcome and the value of this initiative will increase as the membership grows and people engage, contribute and collaborate," he added. Other ambassadors will be invited to sign up and add their support, business experience and expertise to helping Meath and its business citizens develop in the future. Kevin Stewart, director of Meath County Council's economic development and innovation unit, said the council is currently investing in the development and launch of the web-based facility, www.meatharoundtheworld.com. "When we have sufficient people registered, we are confident that it will ensure that the county and its business opportunities are promoted through the latest communication tools available. It will be, in effect, bringing together the old method of 'Meath people sticking together in tough times' and the modern approach to networking through the web," he said.
