Edwin Mullane, Mick Lally and George McMahon in 'God's Official.'

Fringe award-winning comedy play for Kells

The newly refurbished St Vincent de Paul Theatre in Kells is staging City Theatre's production of 'God's Official' a madcap comedy starring legendary Irish actor, Mick Lally (Glenroe), George McMahon (Fair City) and rising star, Edwin Mullane. For one night only, on Thursday 13th May, Kells audiences will have the chance to see the only Meath performance of this play which won the Spirit of the Fringe Award at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and is the middle of a twenty five venue national tour. The theme of the play, which won the Spirit of the Fringe Award at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, is simple: To some people football is a matter of life and death, to others it is far more important than that! Degsy and Cliff are gutted when a perfectly good goal is disallowed, sending their team crashing into the relegation zone. The referee's decision is final - or is it? Taking matters into their own hands the two lads come up with a plan to kidnap the ref and force him to change his mind on the all important goal with hilarious and unexpected consequences. Tickets are available from McEntee's, Newmarket Street, Kells. Phone (046) 924 0116. The show is at 8pm.
