Kells young people in cross-border exchange

Kells Youth Club has been involved in a cross-border exchange with Willowbanks Youth Club from the Falls Road in Belfast for the past five months. The exchange involved 21 young people from both youth clubs, who made visits to many interesting and historical places, both north and south of the border. The Willowbanks young people enjoyed their first visit to a farm while they were in Meath. Being from a city, none of them would have had the hands-on experience of farm animals or the mess of jumping into the bog or baking brown bread. During one of the visits to Belfast, the young people from Kells got to sign the peace wall on the Shankhill Road. The youngsters worked hard fundraising to cover the cost of the project and the support they received from businesses, voluntary organisations and local people was both encouraging and appreciated. The overall project has been educational, fun and worthwhile for all of the young people and their leaders and they have issued a special word of thanks to their volunteers, Cara Shipp, Stephanie O'Rourke and Sammy Cullen, for their dedication and commitment to the project.
