Murray says zoning plans give best possible local gain

Meath County Council"s Local Area Plans (LAPs) for Longwood, Enfield, Summerhill and Ballivor are now reaching the final stages of the statutory procedure and will now go on public display for a period of six weeks when final submissions on the amendments will be considered. Cllr Seamus Murray said the plans have been designed to give the best possible gain to these local communities and, in all of the villages, there had been very little residential zoning where there was not some gain for the community. Cllr Murray said that Longwood GAA Club would benefit from extra land donated by a developer and a site for a children"s playground was another gain in this community. Na Fianna GAA Club would also benefit from extra land while the Enfield Soccer Club and the local Na Fianna Athletic Club would also be facilitated with land. Two sites for a new national school and a new second-level school have also been identified and zoned appropriately. In Ballivor, the community would benefit from extra land for community facilities, parking and an extension to the graveyard while Summerhill will have extra land zoned for amenities and the Demesne lands also protected for local amenity. The plan was also designed to deliver a relief road to the north-east of the village in the future. Cllr Murray said he was very pleased with the results of the many hours of work that had gone into these plans and he hoped these results would be visible for all in the future. He said Meath County Council and the local councillors had engaged in a very public consultation process within the local communities to find out the requirements in the various communities and he felt that the plan would deliver on these needs.
