Big crowd expected for World Cup showdown

A big crowd is expected for this evening's Women's Rugby World Cup semi-final between Ireland and England at the 20,000-capacity Stade Jean Bouin, Paris this evening, 5.0 Irish time.

Marie Louise Reilly and Grace Davitt have both being included in the Irish team although there is disappointment for Navan girl Jackie Shiels who is not even on the replacements bench despite a brilliant performance in the 40-5 victory over Kzakhstan last Saturday.

Shiels, who works in London as a teacher and passes Twickenham, the home of English rugby, every day on her way to work. She would loved to have played in this game but it's not to be.

Instead it's up to Reilly and Davitt to represent the Royal County on the biggest day so far for women's rugby in Ireland. The game is live on TG4 and Sky.

Coach Philip Doyle says the team is very experienced and will relish their chance to take on England in the World Cup semi-final.
