Meath athletes in fine form

Cushinstown athlete Elizabeth Morland stepped up to the senior ranks at the AAI National Indoor Championships at Abbotstown last Sunday where she stormed to victory in the 60m hurdle in a time of 8.50 seconds.

The victory completed a great weekend for the Tara woman as she was also honoured at the Meath AAI awards and the AAI awards where she scooped a juvenile All Star Award in a celebration of the ‘next generation of stars.’

On Sunday last she took the laurels in the competitive 60m hurdle event ahead of Catherine McManus of Dublin City Harriers and Lily-Ann O'Hora (Dooneen) in her first event at senior level.

Bohermeen athlete Kevin McGrath was also in action at Abbotstown and he took second place in the 800m behind Kieran Kelly of Raheny Shamrock to claim his first senior championship medal.

Trim athlete Shane Aston finished third in the 60m hurdle behind Ben Reynolds (North Down) and Gerard O'Connell (Carrick-on-Shannon).
