Trim ac members heading for marathon monday

Eighteen members of Trim Athletic Club will be taking part in this year's 36th Dublin City Marathon on Monday next.

Those who are tackling the event include Heather Carty, Denise Molloy, Ellen Vitting, Leonie Dyar, Claire Smith, Tom Feeley, Enda Gallagher, Mark Ginnerty, Robert Farrell, Andrew Revington, Don Mahon, Kieran Corcoran, Niall Feeney, James Guiheen, Sean Murphy, Maurice Brennan, Tony Ryan and Stephen Keane.

Four of the Trim group - Denise Molloy, Robert Farrell, Don Mahon and Andrew Revington - will be running as fundraisers for the Lorraine O'Brien Trust.

Monday's race will start in Fitzwilliam Street Upperwith the finsih in Merrion Square North.

The race starts in waves as follows
8:55 : Wheelchair entrants 
9:00 : First wave 
9:10 : Second wave 
9:20 : Final wave

The 2015 SSE Airtricity Dublin Marathon medal will link in with Dublin's Mansion House to celebrate the 300th anniversary.

FIRST RACE

The first race in 1980 had a total of 1,420 finishers from an entry of 2,100. The first winner was Dick Hooper in a time of 2:16:14 and he became the only person to win the race three times. 
The ladies event was won by Carey May who ran a word class 2:42:11, she was the first of 40 lady finishers in the inaugural event.
