Three for tony at galway

The number three has featured regularly for Tony Martin this week in Galway. Third in the big race on Monday, another third in the big race on Thursday (which he also won) and then three winners on Friday to complete a 143/1 treble - and he was only a length and a half off winning the feature race.

Fran Berry was on board both Tudor City and Dark Crusader for a double while Adrian Heskin had the steering duties on the Barry Connell-owned Vive La France in the opening handicap hurdle.

'Overall my horses have all run very well and I've great owners with a better class of horse now. I have good staff and Barry Potts does a great job running things at home,' stated Martin.

Up to Friday evening, Martin had 24 runners at the Galway Festival and currently stands on four winners plus six others that were either second or third.

Also on the mark last night at Ballybrit was Dunshaughlin trainer Eddie Lynam who won a maiden with Whiskey Sour.

Some 21,532 patrons poured through the turnstiles, a slight increase of 369 on the 2014 figure, but the Tote returnes were by over €40,000 to €668,254.
