Lucky number seven for elliott

Longwood handler Gordon Elliott enjoyed a remarkable return yesterday as he recorded a 474/1 seven-timer with three winners at Bellewstown and four first past the post in Perth.

“It’s been a great day, the best I’ve had in terms of numbers” he declared after watching Mustadrik, Be Seeing You and Moonmeister triumph at Bellewstown yesterday evening.

“I have a nice bunch of horses, but I’ve always said that I have the best staff in the country.”

Rising star Jack Kennedy provided Elliott with the first two legs of his Bellewstown treble, bringing 6/4 favourite Mustadrik from off the pace to record a convincing seven-length win in the Lime Kiln Gastro Pub Handicap.

Kennedy struck again on  Be Seeing You, who got the better of Colstonesober in the Seamus Mulvaney Crockafotha Handicap Hurdle while it was the turn of Luke Dempsey to partner 30/100 favourite Moonmeister to an effortless, all-the-way win in the Wintergrass Novice Hurdle.

Elliott once again stole the show at Perth on Thursday as he landed a four-timer at odds of just over 72/1.

Bank Bonus, running for the yard for the first time, was the final leg under Kevin Sexton in the Visit Scone Palace Conditional Jockeys' Handicap Hurdle and carries the colours of Republic of Ireland international footballer John O'Shea.

Elliott, who wasn't at Perth, said: 'It's yet another great day at Perth for us and it's always been a very lucky track for me.

'After a double on Wednesday I'm delighted to have four more at one of my favourite tracks and it's also terrific to train a winner for John O'Shea.'

The Irishman's haul also included Russian Regent who shouldered top-weight to victory in the afternoon's feature race, the Diageo Handicap Chase, to complete a 28/1 treble for Richard Johnson.

The evens favourite trounced Peachey Moment by 22-lengths to hoist Johnson to just two shy of a seasonal half century.
