Wins for Rathkenny, Ratoath and Donaghmore/Ashbourne in SFC showdowns

There was delight for Donaghmore/Ashbourne when they made it two wins from two outings in the SFC by defeating Blackhall Gaels 1-16 to 0-11 at Simonstown tonight while Ratoath and Rathkenny both picked up their first victories of the championship. 

Darragh McGovern grabbed the only goal of the game to help ensure Donaghmore/Ashbourne (who defeated Seneschalstown in round one) continued on their winning ways. Leo Reilly scored five points from play for the winners while Sean Whelan topscored for Blackhall with eight points, seven frees. 

In Skryne this evening Ratoath chalked up an impressive 1-18 to 1-5 win over Moynalvey. Gavin McGowan found the net for Ratoath who were well on the way to victory when they led 0-14 to 0-1 at the break. Moynalvey also had a player sent off. 

Ratoath drew with St Patrick's in the opening round but they were dominant throughout against Moynalvey whose manager Darren Fay stepped down recently. 

In Duleek Rathkenny bouned back from a defeat to St Colmcille's in the opening round to get the better of St Patrick's, 0-10 to 0-8.
