Dolan and Thynne are Meath's Soaring Stars

Meath players Jane Dolan and Megan Thynne have been selected on the 2016 Soaring Stars Intermediate camogie team.

Dolan, who plays for Blackhall Gaels and Kilmessan's Thynne put in a series of outstanding displays for their clubs and county this year with the Soaring Stars award a recognition of their high level of performances.

The Soaring Stars is equivalent to the All-Stars in hurling and Gaelic football with teams at intermediate and senior levels selected.

Both Thynne and Dolan played their part as Meath claimed the National Camogie League Div 2 title with a victory (1-10 to 2-3) over Galway earlier this year. Dolan scored five points in that win while Thynne hit two.

The pair were also part of the Royal County side that won the Leinster Intermediate Camogie title at Aughrim in June.

Carlow were defeated 2-11 to 0-6 in the final with Thynne missing out on that victory because of exam commitments.

In that game Dolan scored 2-2 to help John Davis's side to another impressive victory and complete the double.

Thynne and Dolan were once more involved as Meath kick-started their All-Ireland Intermediate Camogie campaign the following week with a 3-21 to 0-9 victory over Down.

Again Dolan stood out, capping an excellent performance with a personal tally of 3-7.

Both players started for Meath in a 1-11 to 0-6 win over Galway in the next round.

However Meath faltered when they shipped a 1-10 to 2-9 defeat to Cork at Trim a week later with Dolan topscoring for the home side with six points.

Recently Thynne played her part as Kilmessan marched to an eighth Senior Camogie title in a row, their 14th in 15 years. Thynne scored two points in the 2-9 to 0-9 win over Na Fianna in the final.
