Secondhalf goals power meath to allireland showdown

Meath conjured three early second-half goals to secure a comfortable 4-12 to 1-11 victory over Mayo in the All-Ireland u-21 B HC semi-final at Trim this afternoon.

Philip O'Brien's side  had a lacklusture opening half and at the break they trailed 0-5 to 0-6.

However, in the second-half they came out a much more potent force and with the help of goals from Gavin McGowan, Fergal Flattery and Sean Doyle they opened up a big gap that was always likely to prove unbridgeable.

The Mayo cause wasn't helped by the fact that they had midfielder David Kenny sent off shortly before the interval.

Meath were not slow in using the extra man and they exposed weaknesses in the Mayo defence to win. In the closing minutes James Andrew ran in for a fourth and final Meath goal.
