Omahonys out at first hurdle

The miserable record of Meath teams in the Leinster Club SFC continued at Tullamore today as Navan O’Mahonys exited the competition at the first hurdle following a 0-13 to 4-10 defeat by Offaly champions Rhode.

O’Mahonys were level with 10 minutes remaining and trailed by just 0-13 to 2-9 when Rhode had Conor McNamee sent off for a second yellow card five minutes from the end.

However, Rhode scored two late goal as O'Mahonys pushed forward in an effort to win the game.

“ I think we’d all agree that the final score bears no resemblance to the match,
I hate seeing a scoreline like that because you might think we were up to nothing and that wasn't the way it was,' said manager Davy Nelson.
