Death of auctioneer, Ron Duff


The death occurred on Wednesday morning of the former president of the Institute of Professional Auctioneers and Valuers, Ratoath-based auctioneer, Ron Duff, after a long illness.

He also served as president of Ashbourne/Ratoath and District Chamber of Commerce and later as president of South Meath Fingal Lions Club.


He died peacefully at his Old Ross, Tara, home surrounded by his family. The Drumconrath native is survived by his wife, Antoinette, sons, Andrew and Ronald Jnr, mother, Bridie and brother, Michael, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and his many dear friends, neighbours, and his colleagues in the IPAV.

He is reposing at his home from 2pm to 9pm today (Thursday), with removal on Friday morning to St Colmcille's Church, Skryne, arriving for Funeral Mass at 11am. Burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery. Family flowers only. Donations, if desired, to Meath Palliative Care or The Gary Kelly Centre.

The Institute of Professional Auctioneers & Valuers, has expressed its deepest sympathies to the family and friends of Ronald (Ron) Duff, a long standing board member.
 
Pat Davitt, IPAV Chief Executive, said his untimely death has come as a shock to his many colleagues and friends throughout Ireland.
 
“Ron has been a member of the institute for 32 years and has twice served as President, in 1998-1999 and again in 2013-2014.  He has contributed hugely to the Institute, in several roles, including as a board member over many years, a role he continued to fulfil until his untimely passing.
 
“Ron loved the property market and was a force to be reckoned with bringing energy, passion, insight and experience to any debate.
 
“His loss will be immense. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family at this very sad time."
