Henry Mountcharles to miss Slane concert on order of doctors

It has been confirmed that for the first time ever Lord Henry Mount Charles will miss a Slane concert.

Instead he will be in hospital on the order of his doctors after developing a chest infection last week.

Through a spokesperson this morning he said , 'I am obviously extremely disappointed that I can't be there and my wish is for all of the fans to enjoy the day. I will be there in spirit.”

Tomorrow 80,000 fans will see Guns ’N’ Roses headline at the natural amphitheatre that rests beside the Boyne river and Slane Castle.

It will be their second time appearing there; the last was 25 years ago when at one point Lord Mountcharles feared things could get out of hand as the crowd got restless waiting for them to perform.

That will not be a factor this year with the advice being that they will go on stage, possibly by 7pm, to ensure they get to play their full set.

Gardai in Meath have reminded fans that the Irish weather can be unpredictable and “the latest forecast is predicting rain on Saturday at Slane.”

“Hopefully it will clear later in the day before Guns N' Roses appear. However, if you are attending the concert please dress for the weather.”

They have also warned about pick pockets saying, “Keep your belongings safe - especially tickets, phone and cash.”

“Gardaí strongly advise patrons to use bus transport to the event. There is a shuttle bus operating from the Market Square in Navan to Slane starting at 1.30pm and running up to 7pm. There is also a shuttle service from the Bus Depot in Drogheda starting at 12.30pm and running up to 6pm. Return services will operate immediately after the end of the concert.”

“If you're coming by car, allow for traffic delays, remember what car park you are in (Red - Navan Road, Blue - Collon Road and Pink - Drogheda Road). These are the official car parks and will have Gardaí and security personnel present. No cars will be allowed to approach on the N2 from the Ashbourne side - this route is reserved for busses. Make sure you car is locked and don't leave any property exposed.”

There will be over 400 gardai on duty, including specialist units, who will be supported by an additional 1,200 Security/Stewards provided by licensed security companies together with a full complement of doctors and medical teams, including an on-site hospital along with five first aid posts.
