WATCH video of start of Tara Loop: Over 3,000 at Meath Heritage Cycle Tour

According to the organisers (Meath Local Sports Partnership) over 3,000 cyclists took part in the Meath Heritage Cycle Tour - the seventh annual event - when the final route, the Tara Loop over 50kms set off from Trim this morning at 10.30am.

There were four routes in the event for 2016 with the family spin taking place yesterday over an 11-kilometre route and it was open to all over six-years, cyclists under 12 had to be accompanied by an adult with 1,000 taking part.

FOOD AND WATER STOPS 50km TARA LOOP

Hill of Tara, food stop @ 22km

Kiltale GAA centre, water stop @ 34km

Trim - Finish, food stop for all cyclists.

Although 17,500 bottles of water will be consumed on the day, cyclists are requested to bring with them fully stocked water bottles and snacks for consumption along the route.

There is an array of food served along the routes and at the finish in Trim.
