Guide dogs seek meath volunteers

Irish Guide Dogs for The Blind is looking for volunteers in Meath to support its national campaign Guide Dog Day taking place on 1st May.

On Guide Dog Day on 1st May there will be street and Tesco collections in Meath selling Guide Dog Day badges, tattoos and stickers on the day. To help out, even for as little as two hours, email fundraising@guidedogs.ie, LoCall 1850506300 or go to www.guidedogs.ie.

“Guide Dog Day is our biggest fundraising campaign in the year,” said Paula McGovern, Communications Manager with Irish Guide Dogs. “We aim to raise more than €200,000 that will help us train more dogs and help more people who need our services. We are incredibly grateful to the work of volunteers who help us fundraise and run our services. If you would like to get involved for as little as an hour or two on the day, please do get in touch.”

The national charity is 80% funded by voluntary income and donations. It costs €38,000 to train one pup to become a working Guide or Assistance Dog. All of Irish Guide Dogs’ services are provided to people who are vision impaired and children with autism free of charge. Irish Guide Dogs works with people all over Ireland.
