River search underway in Navan

Members of Meath River Rescue and Meath Civil Defence are searching the River Boyne outside Navan this evening following a report that a person was seen crossing the fence and walking towards the river.

Gardai are investigating the report which was received at around 4.20pm. It is not yet confirmed if the person actually entered the river but a woman was seen by a young person climbing over the fence into the field beside the River Boyne at Kilcarn.

Teams from Meath River Rescue, Meath Civil Defence and Navan Fire Service were deployed to the scene and the Garda Air Support Unit has also been despatched to help in the search.
