Songs we learned at school - brings you back years

In 2008, John Spillane’s ‘Irish Songs We Learned At School’ went on to be the biggest selling Irish Album of that year, and became the “must have” gift for home and abroad that Christmas.

They say lightning doesn’t strike twice, but in 2009, John did it again with ‘More Irish Songs We Learned At School’, this time joined by two great heroes of Irish song; Christy Moore and Seán Ó Sé, once again featuring the students of Coláiste Choilm and GaelCholáiste Choilm, Ballincollig, Co Cork, with teacher Catherine Frost.

On November 4th 2016, Universal Music Ireland re-issue these modern Irish classics as a deluxe 2CD package, so we can once again re-visit our childhoods.

Including favourites such as ‘An Poc Ar Buile’, ‘Trasna Na dTonnta’, ‘Buachaill on Éirne’ and ‘Dilín Ó Deamhas’, and a beautiful version of ‘Oíche Chiúin’ (Silent Night) this is a treasure trove of Irish songs that will take you back years. This is a charming album and will be a great gift for those nostalgic about their childhood songs, and also great for teaching children these songs that could sadly be dying out without these lovely recordings. You’ll remember more songs than you think you know!
