Exciting new dramas from emerging playwrights

Meath County Council Arts Office  presents an exciting evening of new theatrical work by three emerging Irish playwrights: 'The Spoon’ by Sean Henderson,  'Billie' by Ger Gallagher and 'Two Little Boys' by Padraic McIntyre.
These works have been commissioned by the Arts Office under their Literary Associate Scheme supported by The Arts Council and Solstice Arts Centre. Through the programme, acclaimed writers Mark O’Halloran ('The Garage’, 'Adam and Paul’) and Deirdre Kinahan ('Halcyon Days’, 'Moment’, 'Bogboy’) gave workshops and provided critical evaluation to all three writers. The three 30-minute works devised under their mentorship will now be staged as professional rehearsed readings at Solstice. They will be directed by David Horan (Halcyon Days) and performed by well-known actors Mary Murray (Love/Hate), Noelle Brown (Bogboy), Charlie Bonner (The Crush), Damien Kearney (Love/Hate) and Gavin Fulham (The Field).
Sean Henderson lives in Trim and has worked extensively as a stage manager, set designer, lighting designer and director for theatre. He is currently training with 'Fishamble: The New Play Company’ on their director’s programme. His play 'Misconception’ was staged by Trim Drama Group in 2012; 'The Spoon’ is his third play. Ger Gallagher lives in Cabinteely, Co Dublin and is author of four novels; 'A Life Left Untold’, 'Broken Passions’, 'Shadow Play’ and 'A Case of You’. Her first play, 'Weighing-In’, was broadcast by RTE Radio Drama in January and the stage play version opens at the Mill Theatre, Dublin in February. Padraic McIntyre is from Bailieboro, Co Cavan and is Artistic Director of Livin’ Dred Theatre Company. He has directed a number of plays and wrote 'The Night Joe Dolan’s Car Broke Down’.
There will be an opportunity for the audience to give feedback and engage with the playwrights and their mentors at the post-reading wine reception. The event is on Saturday 1st February at 7pm at Solstice Arts Centre.
Ticket price €7 (includes post-reading reception) - available through Box Office. For more information and booking see www.solsticeartscentre.com or contact Box Office on (046) 909 2300.
