Christmas with Cappella at Solstice this week

The Cappella Choir will present a choral feast at Solstice Arts Centre, Navan, on Thursday 12 December at 8pm. Directed by Vincent Whelan and accompanied by Jillian Saunders, this mixed choir will sing familiar Christmas favourites and beautiful international carols such as The Yearning from the USA, Ring Christmas Bells from the Ukraine and a selection of festive songs from Brazil, Korea and Austria.

Many may be familiar with Choir Director Vincent Whelan from his strong connections with the choral tradition in Navan. He previously conducted the Navan Musical Society in the AIMS Choral Festival in Birr Co Offaly where they won 1st prize in three sections - Mixed Voice Choirs, Female Choirs, & Male Voice Choirs.

Whelan has been Musical Director of Cappella Choir since 1998 and firmly established them on the Choral Circuit by entering and winning numerous competitions around Ireland, including 1st Prize at the Cork International Choral Festival. Cappella’s latest success came when they won two 1st prizes at the Kilcoole Festival 2013. They have taken part in the Prague Festival and participated in festivals in Austria, France, Italy, Germany, Norway and Poland.
