Digging for success at Navan RFC

Anonymous boost for Navan RFC

Anonymous contribution aids improvements at Navan RFC ahead of this Saturday's AIL Div 1B game at Balreask Old against City of Armagh.

According to the current edition of the Navan RFC bulletin - Latest News from Navan RFC
Some of the more observant among you have enquired as to why we are digging up Pitch 1 in the middle of the rugby season

The club was very fortunate to receive an anonymous donation for the purpose of putting a higher standard of goalposts on the pitch but the work had to be carried out immediately.

The secondary bonus will be that the old goalposts from Pitch 1 can be used on on Pitch 2 next year.

As any place kicker will tell you, the left-hand upright at the Ardboyne end is leaning distinctly starboard making for a very tricky target indeed!

But you can rest assured that the Pitch 2 posts will remain in place until next summer when they can be changed at

Seen above on the Monday of the public holiday weekend Ralph Condy hard at work making sure that the goalposts are fit for purpose for the next game.

The new posts will be on full view for the Navan v Armagh AIL 1B match on Saturday

Navan U12's v St. Columba's College St. Albans

Navan Under 12’s played a travelling squad from St Columba’s College in St. Alban’s, Hertfordshire UK on Monday evening the 28th October. The players enjoyed 2 games and all squad members played and enjoyed their international rugby experience.  In true rugby tradition players from both teams enjoyed pizza together in a packed Members Bar afterwards

Pictured are the two squads after the matches.
