Pool Super Cup for Bective

Bective will go into the new Meath Pool League season in fine fettle after they captured the Meath Super Cup at the weekend.

The season will start on Friday 19th October and to launch the new campaign the last season's top two teams contested the Super Cup final last Friday night.

Alfie's took on Bective - the winners of last season's Knock-out Cup and Meath League respectively to see who would be crowned the 2018 Super Cup Champions. 

Fox's on Flower Hill  in Navan was the venue for a classic encounter that saw Bective put on a superb display to come from two frames down to defeat Alfie's 7-4.

Gabriel Caffrey (Alfie's) drew first blood from Bective's Rod Clifford with a great finish while Clint O'Reilly was next to face Narra Corco of Bective to make it 2-0 for Alfie's.

Nigel Rennicks stepped up for Bective in a stunning display to reduce the deficit and keep Alfie's from running away with the night.

AO Farrelly of Alfie's and Keith Cahill of Bective battled it out with Keith shading the verdict to make 2-2 after four.

Mark Caffrey needed to win for Alfie's to go back in front, but Bective's Rory Callan took the frame and the lead for the first time . 
Alfie's bounced back with  Davy Burns defeating Bective's Joey Farrell to make it 3-3 after the singles.

After the break two sets of three doubles commenced with Alfie's Davy Burns and Paddy Flynn off the pace against Bective's Ciaran O'Sullivan and Nigel Rennicks (4-3 Bective). 

Ken Martin and Mark Caffrey battled well for Alfie's against Rod Clifford and Keith Cahill, but the Bective duo proved too strong to put Bective 5-3 in front.

With Bective only needing two more frames to call it a night Clint O'Reilly and AO Farrelly needed a win to keep Alfie's hopes alive, but Bective's Rory Callan and Ciaran Corcoran prevailed for a 6-3 lead.

Ken Martin and Mark Caffrey have their work cut out against in-form Nigel Rennicks and Ciaran O'Sullivan with the final frame going to the Bective duo  to seal the win.
