John Kavanagh elected Meath GAA Co Board chairman

There were three nominations for what was essentially the vacant Meath GAA Co Board chair at tonight's annual  convention in Navan where John Kavanagh was elected.

The vacancy arose following the resignation of Drumconrath clubman Peter O'Halloran in September and St Ultan's clubman Kavanagh was appointed to serve as acting chair in the interim.

An emotional Kavanagh told the delegates that the past few weeks had been very stressful and he stated that it was a proud occasion for himself, his family and his parents.

"I'm the first Bohermeen man since 1937 to be chairman of Meath Co Board and I want to thank you for entrusting me with this position for the next 12 months," he said.

The results of the election of officers were:
