Meath will tackle Laois in semi-final

Meath will face Laois in the semi-final of the Leinster SFC at Croke Park on Sunday 9th June.

Laois edged out Westmeath this afternoon at an almost windswept Tullamore by 0-12 to 0-10 to earn their place in the last four.

Wind-assisted Laois were ahead by 0-8 to 0-2 at the interval and dug deep against the elements to seal a two-point victory.

Evan O'Carroll with eight points, five from frees, was the top scorer for Laois while Paul Kingston (two), Conor Boyle and Eoin Lowry completed the tally.

Laois lost the NFL Div 3 final to Westmeath at Croke Park in April and following this victory will be confident of claiming another scalp when they face Meath in a fortnight.

Meath manager Andy McEntee was pleased with his team's display yesterday and will be looking for some more improvement for the semi-final.

“There are loads of areas we can improve on, getting to a semi-final in Croke Park, I'm sure everyone is looking forward to it,” he said.
