Trim stun Kildalkey in SHC thriller

Trim booked their place in the SHC final with a stunning 1-12 to 0-9 victory over hot favourites Kildalkey at Pairc Tailteann this evening.
Rated as rank outsiders ahead of this semi-final clash few gave Trim any chance of putting it up to Kildalkey, but boosted by an excellent start and inspired by the brilliance of Alan Douglas, Damo Magee, Ciaran O'Rourke and James Toher they hassled and harried Kildalkey throughout this entertaining encounter and were deserving winners.
It was Douglas who boosted Trim to a fine start and at half-time they led by 0-8 to 0-6. The underdogs stretched that lead to 0-10 to 0-6 after the resumption, but Kildalkey rallied to close the gap to 0-9 to 0-11 with 12 minutes remaining.
However, they failed to score again and when Douglas netted the only goal of the game a minute later Trim were on course for the shock.
Kildalkey threw everything they had into attack, but they couldn't breakdown the resiliant Trim rearguard and the Neil Cole-managed side held on to book their place in the final for the first time since 2014.

In today's other big game at Pairc Tailteann Na Fianna sealed their place in the IHC final with a 1-15 to 1-13 victory over Wolfe Tones.
