Trim District Court

Woman charged in connection with charity box theft

A 45-year-old woman with a Co Meath address appeared before Trim District Court today (Thursday) in connection with the alleged theft of a collection box owned by Meath River Rescue.

Louise Woodlock of Castleview, Duleek was charged that she allegedly stole the charity box with €100 in cash at the Londis store in Kentstown on 20th October last. Evidence of arrest was given by Garda John McGrath. He said he had cautioned the accused and she made no reply to the charge.

Defending barrister James O'Brien made an appeal for the accused to be released on bail. However, Judge Cormac Dunne said that the accused had taken 14 arrest warrants in 2018 and eight this year. He said he also had to take into account that the accused had other charges pending in the court including theft of a charity box belonging to Focus Ireland at Applegreen Filling Station, Duleek on 23rd of last month. Because the district court is not sitting in Trim next week he remanded her in custody to appear at Court No 1 in the Central Courts in Dublin on 31st of this month.
