€20,000 creative arts award up for grabs from Meath County Council

An ambitious funding award of some €20,000 is to be made by Meath County Council's Cultural Services under the Creative Ireland initiative. This open award is to create new collaborative work between Irish professional artist or artists or production companies with a Meath-based community group, society or informal groups of all kinds.

Designed to encourage new creative ideas and new ways of working with artists in County Meath, this Creative Award is made possible through funding from Creative Ireland and Meath County Council, and was announced over the Christmas period.

The work must be an extraordinary project, or form of collaborative creative engagement such as, but not limited to, theatre, artwork, event, dance, literature, spectacle, residency or commission. It must be a result of meaningful collaboration and interactions between professional artists/production companies and the group itself. The proposed collaboration can be located anywhere in the county.
Meath County Council says: "We are looking to support collaborations that are of the highest quality in artistic and collaborative experiences for all participants/artists involved. A local Meath group can be any group of people living in the county who get together regularly. Professional artists can be resident in Ireland or abroad. The work must take place in 2019."
The artist or the community can apply for the award, but must be able to demonstrate that there is mutual agreement on the proposed work between artists and local group, a commitment to undertake that new work, and clarity on everyone’s agreed role.
An independent panel will select the successful proposal. There will be one award only. Solstice Arts Centre will administer the award.
Applications should be submitted by 8 February 2019 and include: A clear proposal' full budget with details of other income and/or benefit in kind; agreed rates of pay to artists; Letter of Agreement between groups and artists; CV of Artists and five sample images of work; Information about the group; Proposed timeline of activities; demonstration that the group/artist have the expertise and support to deliver the proposal.
Applicants are responsible for all health and safety, insurances, and production of the proposal.
