Meath to face Longford or Carlow

Meath will get their bid for a first Leinster SFC title since 2010 underway with a tricky quarter-final test against the winners of the Longford v Carlow first round tie.

Meath last played Carlow in the 2019 Leinster SFC at the same stage and coasted to a 2-18 to 0-9 victory, but they endured a much tougher afternoon when they last took on Longford, losing in the 2018 quarter-finals by 0-14 to 0-16.

Defending champions Dublin will play the winners of the Wexford v Wicklow first round match and Leinster Council chairman Pat Teehan confirmed that game will not be in Croke Park.

In the other quarter-finals Kildare will take on either Offaly or Mickey Harte's Louth, while Laois and Westmeath will clash in the final quarter-final encounter.

This year's football championships will be knockout and there will be no second chances. The draws for the Leinster SFC semi-finals will take place after the quarter-finals are played.

Thje Leinster SFC is expected to get underway on the weekend of 26th/27th June.

The Meath footballers returned to training at Dunganny last night.
