Dunshaughlin teacher and local GAA player dies in Crossakiel collision
The young man who died in last night's road traffic collision in Crossakiel has been named as Dunshaughlin Community College teacher, James Baugh.
Mr Baugh - also known as Jimmy - was 25, and played hurling with Kilskyre and football with Ballinlough.
He is survived by his parents, Billy and Mary, sister Susan, aunt Ann, aunts, uncles, relatives, and a wide circle of friends, team mates and colleagues.
The single vehicle fatal road traffic collision occurred in the Crossakiel area last night around 11pm.
Mr Baugh, a passenger in the van involved, was taken from the scene in a critical condition to Our Lady's Hospital, Navan, where he was later pronounced dead. The driver of the van, a man also aged in his 20s, has been taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda, with serious injuries.
Kells area councillor, Mike Bray, said: "I want to offer my sympathies to the family on this terrible loss of such a young life. I know many of the family and friends, and this is an awful sad and difficult time for them."
"My thoughts and sympathies are also with the community in the Crossakiel area, in particular the young people, who have suffered a number of sad loses in recent years."
"They are a wonderfully strong and close community in the Crossakiel area which is a great comfort at this sad time."
