EuroMillions winner collects cheque

The winner of a EuroMillions cheque for half a million euro at a Clonee supermarket earlier this month was a Co Dublin woman who only discovered her good fortune yesterday, it has been revealed.

The woman was both shocked and delighted as she claimed her €500,000 prize today at the National Lottery offices in Dublin. 

The lucky winner, who wishes to remain private, won the prize in the EuroMillions Plus draw on Friday 5th July, but she only discovered the fantastic news on Sunday.

“I keep my tickets in my purse and check them every few weeks. I was in the shop yesterday, checking my tickets and a message came up on the screen to contact the National Lottery. I thought I must have won a few hundred euro so I was so shocked when I found out it was €500,000!” said the delighted winner.

She bought her ticket in Spar, Little Pace Shopping Centre, Clonee, on Friday 5th July.

She said the first thing she would do was visit her parents who live in another country, put money intoi a trust fund for her children and she also hoped to get a hnew house and upgrade her car, as well as give some money to charity.
