Mullingar man Bressie will be making the trip to Oldcastle for Le Cheile.

Exciting line-up for Le Cheile 2012 announced

Oldcastle's Le Cheile Arts and Music Festival has announced details of its 15th successive August Bank Holiday event, featuring everything from popular to cult, from rock to ballad, and from indie to 80s, this year has all the bases covered. Crean's Marquee Stage opens on Friday 3rd of August, with The Walls. One of Ireland's most respected and successful bands, The Walls were formed by brothers Steve and Joe Wall after the demise of their legendary, multi-platinum band The Stunning. They started their own record label Dirtbird Records and released their first album Hi-Lo in 2000. It went Gold in Ireland on the back of good airplay and a helping hand from U2 who added them to their second, legendary, Slane Castle show after the band sent them the CD. The follow-up album New Dawn Breaking went top five and was amongst the top selling home releases of 2005. It includes the classic 'To the Bright' and 'Shining Sun', containing that infectious guitar riff which helped The Walls become a household name when it was used on a major TV commercial. Other major acts The Walls have graced the stage with include Bob Dylan, Crowded House and Red Hot Chilli Peppers. Having tasted recent success with latest album 'Stop The Lights' in February, Le Cheile is glad to include The Walls on a leg of their Irish tour this summer. On Saturday 4th August in Crean's Marquee Stage, one of the Le Cheile crew's favourite acts, the Republic Of Loose, returns. Stage diving, crowd mingling, and a night of the bounciest tunes ever produced in Ireland are all par for the course with them. Having toured the US, played with Sinead O'Connor, Shane McGowan, U2, and collaborated on TV shows with NBC, MTV, BBC, and a host of movies, the quality speaks for itself. Paddy Casey returns to Caffrey's Redroom on Saturday 4th August. Casey has been the forefront of the Irish music scene since his debut album 'Amen (So Be It)' in 1999, while his second release 'Living' became the biggest seller in Ireland out-selling U2. In more recent times Paddy has had the pleasure of sharing the stage with that very band on their Vertigo Tour, he has had a week long sold out residencies in Dublin's prestigious Olympia Theatre and RDS. He has even been invited onto and performed on the Hit American CBS Chat Show 'The Late Show' with David Letterman. Paddy recently wrote the follow up to his last award-winning album 'Addicted to Company (Part One)', for which he won Best Male at the Meteor Awards. On Sunday 5th at Crean's Marquee Stage, the country's favourite ex-rugby playing, ex-Blizzard's frontman, Bressie, joins the line-up. The Blizzards were one of Ireland's biggest rock 'n' roll deals, but that didn't stop their guitarist and singer Niall Breslin deciding in January 2010 that he needed a new challenge. "We had six amazing years together," he reflects. "The gigs, the fans, the other guys in the band… it was all brilliant, but I've always found myself being embraced by all genre directions. Not only as a writer and a performer, but as a producer too; I'm fascinated by every part of the music-making process." He has managed to combine both musical genres to glorious effect as can be heard on his debut solo single, 'Can't Stay Young (Forever)'. A big-chorused synth-pop anthem that screams 'Summer!' On Sunday 5th August in Caffrey's Redroom, Irish legends, The 4 Of Us, perform. The 4 of Us were voted one of the Top 10 Best Irish Bands Of All Time in a recent TV3 series and hail from Newry, Co Down. This multi-award winning band has seven fine albums under their belt and a back catalogue of memorable songs that have featured on American, British and Irish TV and film soundtracks. To this day, their smash hit 'Mary', remains one of the most played tracks on Irish radio and is currently featured on SingStar, one of Sony PlayStation's most popular games. To wrap up the party on Monday 6th August at Crean's Marquee Stage, one of the best cover bands on the circuit, Relax, will perform. One of the country's busiest four-piece cover bands, Relax are in demand practically every weekend, and will have the floor filled all night with tunes from the 60s, 70s and 80s. Day tickets priced at €35 for Saturday 4th and €35 also for Sunday 5th, with entry to gigs in Creans and Caffreys, and limited weekend ticket offer at €99 which guarantees entry to all gigs, workshops, events and displays over the weekend.
