Dunshaughlin dancer launches new stage school
Dunshaughlin dancer Tracey Carty has teamed up with singer Paul Hennessy to set up Evolution Stage School, with the aim of introducing new up and coming talent to the world of performing arts, maximising their confidence and performance ability. Evolution will be teaching all aspects of the performing arts: dance, singing, drama, musical theatre, hip hop, tap, jazz, modern and choir. Tracey started her dance training at the tender age of three, and later joined Dublin's prestigious Billie Barry Stage School where she was a pupil for over ten years and trained in tap, jazz and ballet. She has performed on numerous occasions in the Gaiety Theatre and the National Concert Hall. She was assistant choreographer for the very popular 'Hot Mikado' in Navan's Loreto Secondary School in 2004 and qualified with an NCEHS certificate in Fitness and Personal Training from the National Training Centre in 2006. Tracey has been working professionally for the past three years. In this time she has performed on 'The Late Late Show' with international artist Enya, travelled to Branson, Missouri 'USA's show town' where she danced with 'Celtic Isle Celebration'. She spent a summer on board Irish Ferries ship, Normandy, performing in their 'Normandy Nights' cabaret show and danced many times with Sonix Entertainment's Vegas Nights. Last year she travelled to Holland to dance at the Aalten Country Festival and has toured the USA twice with Dublin's Traditional Irish Cabaret. She most recently performed in The Cheerios Christmas Panto, 'Peter Pan' in Dublin's Tivoli Theatre and the acclaimed 'Rent' in the Olympia Theatre Dublin. She currently assists with beginner classes in the Billie Barry Stage School and dances regularly in The Irish House Party, a resident show in The Lansdowne Hotel, Dublin. Carlow born Paul Hennessy has been singing professionally for 17 years during which time he has made numerous television and radio appearances. He had vocal training with Dr Veronica Dunne in the College of Music and with Patrick Zuk in the Leinster School of Music. He has appeared in many musicals including, 'South Pacific', 'Fiddler on the Roof', 'HMS Pinafore', 'The Pirates of Penzance', 'The Merry Widow', 'My Fair Lady', 'Guys and Dolls' and most recently played the part of Mr Bumble in 'Oliver', in the Tivoli Theatre. He was a member of the original 'Irish Tenors' and he regularly tours the USA with Dublin's Traditional Irish Cabaret. In 1998, 1999 and 2000 Paul was invited to sing at the All Ireland hurling and football finals in Croke Park. He also sang for the International Rules series, with a total of 11 appearances in Croke Park. In 2007, Paul completed his 11th season in the Burlington Irish Cabaret, with Noel V Ginnity. He has recorded two albums, one featuring songs from stage and screen titled 'Follow me up to Broadway' the other is a collection of Irish favourites, 'A Song for Ireland'. His charity CD 'Believe' raised over €6,000 for Our Ladys Childrens Hospital in December 2007. He is currently performing in 'Taylor's Irish Cabaret' at Taylor's Three Rock, Dublin. Evolution's classes begin in Kildalkey on Thursday 10th September and will run every Thursday during school terms. Classes for four to six year olds: 3.15pm - 4pm; seven to 14 year olds from 4pm - 5pm. The fee is €35 every four weeks of classes.
