Special 1916 supplement in this week's Meath Chronicle
As the actual centenary of the 1916 Rising approaches, this week's Meath Chronicle will include a special 24-page supplement on the rebellion in the county.
The publication will look at the background to and reaction to the Rising in Meath, and focus on the high profile personalities of the rebellion.
The four Meath casualties - James Fox, Thomas Allen, Philip Clarke and James McCormack, will be profiled, and the famous Battle of Ashbourne at Rath Cross, the most significant event outside Dublin, will feature.
Also looked at are the family connections of some of the 1916 leaders with Meath, and the role of Sean Boylan of Dunboyne in events.
Projects and events to mark the centenary will also be covered, as Meath County Council prepares to open a new exhibition at the Solstice in Navan.
The supplement will be in this Tuesday night's Meath Chronicle, dated Saturday 16th April.
