Form favours Bective’s bid

Drumbaragh and Bective both find themselves in the unenviable position of having to contest the IFC relegation play-off under the lights in Devenish Park on Thursday at 8pm.

Both sides were unfortunate to come out on the wrong side of two titanic relegation semi-final battles. They both produced good performances but lost out by narrow defeats against sides of very similar capabilities.

Ballivor’s ceiling is probably a bit higher than any of the four teams who contested those two semi-finals so Drumbaragh can take some confidence from that performance. Overall, though they have had a very disappointing campaign.

In terms of group stage form, Bective were far more consistent than their opponents this week. They might not have picked up a victory but they certainly did not disgrace themselves, especially against Navan O’Mahonys in the final round who are now many people's favourites to claim the IFC title.

On that form, Bective get a slight nod but supporters of both clubs are expected to have a heart-racing nervous evening this Thursday as this IFC relegation final will likely go right down to the wire. Hold on tight. Verdict - Bective.
