Man dies following serious collision in Julianstown

Gardaí have renewed their appeal for witnesses following a serious three-vehicle collision in Julianstown last month, in which a man in his 50s has since died.

The collision occurred on the R132 at Smithstown, Julianstown, shortly after 2am on Saturday, 15th August.

The man was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda for treatment of serious injuries. He was subsequently pronounced dead on Friday, 4th September.

A Family Liaison Officer has been appointed to support the man’s family, while a Senior Investigating Officer has been appointed to lead the investigation.

The scene of the collision was also subjected to a technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision to come forward.

Road users who were travelling on the R132 near Smithstown between 1.30am and 2.30am on Saturday, August 15, and who may have camera footage, including dashcam footage, are asked to make it available to investigating Gardaí.
