Ballivor water problems are 'out of control' - Councillor

A Trim councillor has described the water situation in Ballivor as "out of control" and commented that he wondered if it was "the worst served village in Ireland for water".

Aontú councillor Dave Boyne made the remarks at last week's meeting of Trim Municipal District Council where problems with Ballivor's water supply were once again highlighted, while Cllr Noel French referred to figures which emerged last week that showed over €1m had been spent tankering water into Ballivor over the past five years, money that he argued could have gone a long way towards building the long promised reservoir.

""They have been tankering water for five years. It is a crazy situation," said Cllr French. He also asked when a proposed meeting with representatives of Uisce Eireann is due to take place and was told it would be in October.

"There are problems arising because water it running out," added Cllr French "There are air locks, there are some houses that are not getting any supply because of outages, while most of the village of Ballivor comes back, there are a number of houses that remain having problems and these problems are arising because of Uisce Eireann's on off supply yet these individual residents have to cope with this problem. One lady said she was showering with a hose."

Cllr Padraig Coffey was highly critical of Uisce Eireann's communication and as a councillor said it was a "waste of brain power" to sit at a laptop and send an email to Uisce Eireann only to get an automated answer. He added that is an insult to Meath County Coucil who had done the job for decades without issue and now they have a system that is "completely broken".
