‘Come before the court again and face jail’ - Navan woman told

A young woman from Navan was warned that she could face jail if she appeared again before Judge Eirinn McKiernan.

Judge McKiernan pointed out to Melissa Wilde of Tailteann Road, Navan, that she had previously been convicted for theft when she admitted not paying for diesel at a local filling station.

The 28-year-old defendant was brought before Trim District Court on foot of a bench warrant in respect of a theft at Applegreen, Navan Retail Park.

Sergeant Declan Brady said that on 7th September last year, there was a report that a female pulled up at the filling station and filled €20 of diesel, and made no attempt to pay.

The defendant handed over compensation to cover the loss. She was stated to have nine previous convictions.

Judge McKiernan convicted and fined her €105.

Separately, Judge Eirinn McKiernan reduced a dangerous driving charge to one of careless against Qudratullah Khaderkhil of Athlumney Cottage, Boyne Road, Navan.

After she was told that the 27-year-old defendant had completed a driver awareness course. The case before Trim District Court had been adjourned previously to allow the defendant do the course.

Sergeant Declan Brady told the sitting of the court on Thursday that the defendant had complied with the direction of the court and had done the course.

Judge McKiernan convicted and fined the defendant €250 on the lesser charge, and exercised her discretion and didn’t disqualify him from driving.
