Licence granted for Slane concerts
"All was in readiness for the weekend and the sun was shining" for Slane’s weekend concert featuring Luke Combs. That was the message from Slane Castle owner Alex Conyngham to Judge Eirinn McKiernan at Trim District Court on Thursday ahead of the back to back shows on Saturday and Sunday.
The Marquess Conyngham successfully applied for an occasional licence authorising the sale of intoxicating liquor over Friday, Saturday and Sunday at the venue.
The authorisation applies for the hours from noon to 10pm on Friday, and to 5pm on the following two days in campervan sites away from the main venue.
Barrister Dorothy Collins presented the application, stating all the necessary documentation was in court. The conditions were standard and the hours agreed for the licence to operate.
Mr Conyngham explained that it was planned to facilitate camper vans , and not to have them go into the main car park. They would be taken into another part of the estate.
It was better they did not go into the village on Friday, and the organisers wanted to provide secure facilities on site.
He said they had worked with the An Garda Siochana and the Fire Officer. “All is ready for the weekend and the sun is shining, ” he added.
